Curriculum

Spring Vale offers classes and other opportunities for students to prepare for the challenges of living in today’s world. The goal is to provide students with the life skills needed to make decisions and be Christian leaders during difficult times, drawing upon their deeply rooted Christian values and faith.

As a Michigan-based educational institution, Spring Vale Academy must adhere to state’s set of curriculum standards, which have recently been increased, making them one of the most rigorous in the Nation. Approximately 30 courses are taught each year. The core curriculum includes four or more courses in math, English, science, social studies, and Bible; other courses include foreign languages, speech/drama, journalism, yearbook, physical education, computer literacy, choir, band, psychology, world affairs, office technology, accounting, and art. Not all courses are taught every year. There are the equivalent of seven full-time teachers.

A real advantage for Spring Vale students in the low teacher-to student ration, with the average class size ranging from 10 to 12 students per class. Research shows that a low teacher-to-student ratio is an indicator of a child’s likelihood for success during and after school. With smaller class sizes, teachers are better able to identify individual student needs and address those needs in a timely fashion so that students do not fall behind in their class work.
