Affiliated with the General Conference of the Church of God (Seventh Day), headquartered near Denver, SVA is separately incorporated as a Michigan non-profit corporation governed by its own school board.

Spring Vale Academy is licensed as a boarding school by the Michigan Department of Education. Teachers are certified or permitted by the Michigan Department of Education as well.

The drinking water system has been tested and approved by the Michigan State Health Department. Results of these tests are kept on file in the school's main office.
